Weird about US
Weird about Us, or weird about US?!
You might think living in the US wouldn't be as different from living in NL. Of course there are the obvious changes such as language, perception of distances, money and food, but both are Western, well-developed countries. During the first days, weeks and months in the US, however, we noticed a lot of interesting observations, ranging from minor to more major social and cultural differences impacting our lives here in Seattle. Our experiences probably don't even come close to the difficulties that some other immigrants (or rather 'temporary visitors' in our case) go through, but I think we can safely state that we slightly underestimated the big move.
This blog contains posts regarding our observations while living our lives in Seattle, WA as of June 23, 2017. Some might be obvious, things that you likely already encountered as a tourist in the US, while others only become apparent when you really try/need to integrate into another culture. Nevertheless, they certainly didn't go unnoticed for us.
WeirdAboutUS is based on things that we think are 'weird' about the US, or are simply just weird about ourselves.
